You can blog until the cows come home but knowing where to post your blog to get traffic is key to getting visitors. As you continue to post new blog content that is valuable for your visitors they are likely to become your part of your ideal audience, aka your ideal client.
You just poured yourself into your most recent blog post and hit the publish button. Now what do you do? Wait? Heck no, this is when you dig into your handy bag of tricks which just happens to include five suggestions of where to post your blog to get traffic. Those suggestions are right here:
Before you post your blog anywhere else, go to Google+ and share your blog post there. Why? Because Google indexes any link that is shared and that means it can be found by anyone who does a search at www.google.com.
Over the next two days share your blog post to both Facebook or Twitter. You can use Facebook Insights to determine the best day and time to schedule a post for your blog. Be sure to select a time when the most viewers will have a chance to see your post. Twitter Analytics will show you the best day to post your blog post link. If you share on Facebook the first day, share on Twitter the following day and vice versa.
If, and only if, you are a LinkedIn user, post your blog post to LinkedIn in a group where your topic is relevant or directly on your profile. This helps you establish your credibility and gives you opportunity to position yourself as the go-to-person on this specific topic.
At this point, you have had a chance to share your latest blog post at least three times. Carefully select a platform, time and day within the next 3-5 days to schedule a post inviting your followers a chance to check out your recent blog post. Remember, social media platforms are very busy so little reminders like “In case you missed it …” can be helpful.
Fast forward to 2-3 weeks down the road. This is the time where you look back and check your engagement for your blog post. Once you determine where you had the most engagement, share the same blog post again using the scheduler of your choice. Hootsuite is a favorite choice for many but you may use your own preference. You can continue to do this for up to six months out. If you have a blog post that is extremely popular you may do this as often as every 3-4 weeks.
This concludes my five suggestions of where to post your blog to get traffic. Do you have any other suggestions? Please share in the comment section below.
