With the kids returning to school, it’s time to turn your attention back to your business and determining how to ace social media this month. September is International Strategic Thinking Month. As a business owner, the CEO, the decision maker, how will you strategically take on this month? Here are a few pointers to help you ACE social media for your business this month:
Align.
- What is going to drive your business forward this month?
- Is your game plan aligned with your daily actions?
- Do you know who you are crafting your message for?
These seem like simple questions, but if the answers do not all lead back to accomplishing your overall goal, you will miss the mark.
Break out your day into time chunks and make each minute count toward the winning tally to achieve the things you plan to do. You have a vision; align your capabilities, resources and intentions with an accountability partner.
Every post on each of your social media platforms has to align with the overall intention of your strategy. Know what you want to say and what you expect from sharing the content. Be intentional.

Challenge.
- Are you willing to take a chance?
- Are you open to new ideas?
- How do you connect with others?
Push yourself to stretch and grow in your social media practices by trying something new. If you are already working with posting at designated times of the day and week, look at your results. Are you getting the engagement and interaction you aimed for or are crickets singing in the background? Sometimes minor adjustments a few minutes before or after your scheduled time can be the sweet spot for connecting with your fans and followers.
If you have a tried and true method that’s great, but what would happen if you challenged yourself to take your efforts to a new level? Look at your best performing post and do more of that.
Educate.
- What book can you read this month?
- What podcast can you listen to about a specific topic in your business?
- What can you teach or share with others?
Always be learning and sharing what you know. This helps to establish your credibility in your area of service. Learn by listening, interacting and encouraging innovative ideas. Take the time to look at what has worked well, what didn’t go well, as well as what needs improvement. We all can learn something when we take the time to reflect on our successes and failed attempts.
I encourage you to designate some of your time–a think tank if you will–this month to strategic thinking to help your business grow and be profitable. These are just a few things to get you on the path to thinking strategically about your social media use for your business.
